Around the Cabin

It is great for sledding and hiking near the cabin during winter

A nice trip is to follow the road down and cross a bridge over the river that runs through the middle of the valley. This is also suitable for cross-country skiing if you do not want to go uphill. Feel free to borrow the toboggan/sledding equipment during winter (or even early-summer if you go up in the mountain), which can be found underneath the terrace.

The Mountain

Cross-country skiing up during the winter, or hiking up during the summer is a great experience.

The fantastic mountain is enticing both winter, summer, and also in autumn. Near the cabin, there is a road that can be driven up in summer and autumn, which is a perfect start for a freeriding trip up to Skreieggi. More info here

To get up the mountain you can drive (in summer time) or ski/walk up in winter) along the road past the "STOP" sign.

Use satellite view to get a better understanding of the trip. Keep right in the split to get to the top where there is a rough parking spot, or left to get to the lake. At the top you can either go left for a step climb to some spectacular views, or right on a flatter terrain that will give you a view of the nearby valleys. Highly recommended either way. Waterproof shoes are recommended.

Across the valley

There is also a easier trip that will take you across the valley, this has a forest road, its not drivable, but is easy to walk/bicycle/roll a stroller.

This will take you across a bridge, and continue along the road and you will end up near a little river that's nice to play in / dip your toes during summer.

Fishing

This is the lake that you can drive to up the road from the cabin. Small trout here
There are some great lakes and rivers for trout around the cabin and Voss. If you are under 16 years of age you can fish for free. If you are odler you can buy a fishing permit here: inatur.no
There are fishing gear in the cabin you can borrow.

Downhill Ski-ing (or mountainbiking during the summer)

At the top of the Myrkdalen ski-lifts
Myrkdalen has some of the best skiing in the western part of Norway. USually snowy from December through mid-April there is a lot of great skiing to be had here. Read more about Myrkdalen ski-lifts

Bakkanosi

If you want the fjord view from top of the mountains I recommend to read about this hike https://www.visitnorway.com/listings/bakkanosi-above-unesco-n%C3%A6r%C3%B8yfjord/222650/ Do note that this is an 8 hour hike and only recommended if you are used to, and do regular long trips in mountains. This is best visited in the period from July to September.

Bordalsgjelet

I also strongly recommend visiting Bordalsgjelet. This is a short trip that takes 15 minutes. This is a nice bit of trip to do in combination of going to Voss town. It has an outlandish charm, it's a short walk next to a deep, deep chasm, park here and walk along the path (throught the gate). Google map link

⭐ Jordalen ⭐

This is a trip that you can drive most of the way (June to October) for spectacular views. I loved this trip so much that I made a special overview of it here: Where the wild trolls roam.

Stalheimskleiva

Stalheim hotel i situated on the old King's road from Oslo to Bergen. A rest for weary travellers, it had an amazing outlook over the valley and a wonderful waterfall.
There is several trips nearby the hotel. The most famous and photographed one is to go down the old windy road and past the waterfall. Another one is to go up to the old needle farm
There is also a mueseum which shows how people has lived in the last 200-300 years: Stalheim Folkemuseum
